Can you make a career in the Wellness Industry? Absolutely! There are many and varied job opportunities for our graduates, and they are continual1y expanding. There is a growing demand for coaches and counsellors in a variety of settings, including youth programs, community colleges, recovery houses, mental health centers, adult education and upgrading centers, correctional facilities, and employment programs. Some wel1ness counsellors choose to become self-employed, develop consulting businesses, or even develop their own wel1ness centres or retreats.
There are also increasing opportunities ir the corporate world as businesses recognize the need and benefits to assist their employees to live healthier, more balanced lives. Healthy workers are more productive, better able to handle stress, and take less sick-time. Also, healthy environments attract more productive employees. Wel1ness Counsellors are trained to help people find health, meaning, passion and purpose in their lives. Some of the areas they provide assistance in are:
• Provide assessment of physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being;
• Assist clients with identifying blocks to personal wel1ness;
• Provide counseling in the areas of substance abuse, trauma, employment and family dynamics to assist clients to heal specific problem areas;
• Facilitate workshops in the areas of stress management, goals identification, needs, values, and much more.
