CAN CAN- Mission Statement: The Mission of the CAN is to provide high quality recreational, sports, social and vocational development programs for individuals and families living with autism and to build capacity through community networks across British Columbia. Goals of the I CAN Play Sports Program: The goals of the I CAN Play Sports programs are to increase participants’ abilities in their chosen sport, to integrate participants into mainstream sports where appropriate, to teach participants games that they can initiate with peers, to have fun and socialize while playing sports, and to promote physical activity. Locations: Chilliwack- Swim and Soccer Vancouer- Swim Victoria- Swim and Soccer Campbell River-Soccer More locations TBC Responsibilities: • Support children with autism through each lesson, creating necessary adjustments along with the coach so that participants can be actively involved with the program, engage peer to peer socialization where appropriate. • Behaviour management for any participant who is unable to cope with the environment. • Assist the coach when possible with the instructions for each participant. • Assist the coach in writing report cards for each participant. • Complete necessary paperwork.
