As Rhodes Wellness College is located in downtown Vancouver, it will be indirectly impacted by the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. While not in a security zone, Rhodes Wellness College is concerned that the Olympic traffic and security plans will make it difficult for students and instructors to commute to the college during the height of the Olympic games. In response to this concern, Rhodes Wellness College has adopted the following plan: Friday, February 12, 2009 to Friday February 19, 2010: Monday, February 22, 2009 to Friday, February 26, 2010: Monday, March 1, 2010: In summary, students will not have to travel to the Rhodes Wellness College campus between the opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympic games. During this time, students will have a one week break, followed by a week of self-directed study from home. Note that the 2010 winter semester is thirteen weeks in length rather than twelve. It runs from January 4th to April 2, 2010 and allows the college to accomondate students and staff during the Olympics while also ensuring that students receive full instruction in their respective classes and programs. The college will remain open, and all classes will continue as scheduled, throughout the Paralympic games (March 12, 2010 to March 21, 2010). |
