Robbi Wilson is a Coast Salish woman from the Tla’amin (Sliammon) First Nation and her ancestral name is Palnata7. Robbi graduated from Rhodes Wellness College in 2003 with a Life Skills Instructor Diploma. In 2007, Robbi established her own business EMERGE Wings of Change Business & Wellness Consulting (www.emergewingsofchange.com). Robbi has developed Life Skills Training for First Nation Family and Pre-Employment Bridging Programs with two non profit societies. As an active Violence Prevention Educator, Robbi initiated a partnership between the Canadian Red Cross Society and the Vancouver Aboriginal Friendship Center Society in 2007. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed to build capacity in the Urban Aboriginal Community with injury prevention; including violence and abuse prevention, first aid and falls prevention; emergency preparedness; and humanitarian issues. Robbi also contracts with Inter Tribal Health Authority, and she presented the Aboriginal Suicide Critical Incident Response Team Program to the First Nations Health Managers 2nd National Conference in January 2009. Robbi has begun working within her own rural community delivering leadership and staff training, and is initiating the development of a Critical Incident Response Team. Robbi also delivers various Life Skills workshops to Tla’Amin’s Cultural, Traditional and Educational School. Tla’Amin First Nation is seeking jurisdiction of their Child and Family Services and Robbi wrote a proposal to the then Minister of Child and Family Services, Tom Christensen, and continues to support her community in this endeavor. In her spare time she works to manager her partner’s business, a Squamish Nation artist, and she also volunteers with Choices Seminars. Robbi is mother to a 23 year old daughter and enjoys participating in cultural activities, which form the foundation from which she carries out her work.
