Youth Outreach Worker (Open Until Filled)

Watari Counselling & Support Services is seeking an energetic person to work with vulnerable youth

frequenting the Downtown Eastside neighbourhood. The Youth Outreach Worker is required to understand the issues within the community, have insights into child and adolescent development and

knowledge of the child and family services systems. This position requires an individual who is able to

work evenings and can demonstrate an awareness of supports/services for vulnerable youth and families.

This position works out of our East Hastings Street office as part of the Eastside Integrated Youth Team. A driver’s license is an asset to this position.


  • B.A. or college level diploma related to the position
  • Minimum 3 year’s experience working with the at-risk youth population, preferably in an outreach


  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written
  • Working knowledge of the child welfare system
  • Understanding of child/adolescent development
  • Conflict resolution skills
  • History of networking/partnering with community agencies
  • Successful criminal record search

This position is focused on working with youth and creating pathways to services across the

social determinants of health. A background in psych nursing or mental health/substance use issues is an
