Professional Counsellor Program Breakdown
- Total Program Length: 82 weeks
- Number of Semesters (excluding practicum and other select components): 6
The Professional Counsellor Program is broken down into several very important sections:
- Life Coach Certification – help to inspire others to set and achieve goals and create successful, meaningful lives. This foundation supports strong communication and motivational skills applicable across all areas of counselling.
- Counselling Certification – learn how to advise individuals suffering from employment difficulties, family or relationship problems, sexual abuse trauma, and addiction. Through this certification, you’ll begin to work with complex emotional issues in a professional, supportive manner.
- Wellness Counsellor Certification – students explore how to facilitate wellness across physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual dimensions. In addition, you will gain hands-on training in somatic therapies, cognitive behavioural therapies, clinical assessment, and more.
- Advanced Counselling Mental Health Counselling, Lifestyle Management and Program Planning
- Professional Practice and Ethics and Human Development, Advanced Facilitation
Upon completing the program, you will meet the education requirements to apply to the Canadian Professional Counsellors Association (CPCA) and become a Registered Professional Counsellor (RPC) or to the Association of Cooperative Counselling Therapists (ACCT) and become a Registered Therapeutic Counsellor (RTC/AC). Notably, this program also includes full Life Coach Certification, giving you a well-rounded, dual credential to serve clients more effectively.
