Deeply Experiential: most programs are theory-based and full of case-studies. You will master counselling techniques by applying what you learn to the lives of your classmates and yourself as you practice under close supervision of expert faculty.
Comprehensive: 1,228 hours, 55 weeks, 100% facilitated live by our faculty (either online or in-person).
Step-by-Step: Four semesters (each is 12 weeks long) + a 80-hour practicum. Start with professional coaching to learn one of the most important skills for counsellors: attending (deep listening) skills.
Class Sizes & Times: Attend classes together with a maximum cohort of 24 students either online or in-person Monday – Friday 9am – 1:30pm PST.
Student Loan Eligible: This program qualifies for Canada and provincial/territorial student loans and grants. Student loans also allow individuals to work up to 35 hours per week if needed.
Two Certifications within the program: All graduates will receive a wellness counselling diploma and a professional coaching certification.
Endorsed: The first semester, Life Skills Coaching, is certified through the International Coaching Federation (ICF), the world’s largest coaching organization.
Proven: Rhodes was founded close to 30 years ago and has graduated thousands of graduates who are working in private practice and for organizations around Canada and across the world.
Holistic and Thorough: All Rhodes programs are taught within the framework of the Medicine Wheel, where Mental Wellness, Emotional Wellness, Physical Wellness, and Spiritual Wellness have equal value. This approach encompasses CBT, DBT, Narrative Therapy, Somatic Therapy, and other counselling techniques taught in courses like Addicitions Counselling, Trauma Counselling, Relationship Counselling and more.
Who is this program for: this program is ideally suited for those that want to work as mental health support workers, wellness therapists, spiritual or somatic therapy practitioners, intake counsellors, addictions support workers.
Students can also at any time in their future extend their studies by another two semesters (plus a 120-hour practicum) to obtain their Professional Counsellor Diploma for full professional counselling designation with the Canadian Professional Counsellors Association (CPCA) or the Association of Cooperative Counselling therapists of Canada (ACCT).

Support: Free counselling assistance as a new and continuing student through our own Counselling Centre is available. When you become a senior student you will gain professional experience by helping others as a student counsellor in the Rhodes Counselling Centre, providing pro-bono assistance as you continue to perfect your skills.
Virtual Cafes, Information Sessions on associations you can join, Career Development workshops, Practice labs – these are all part of over 20 events offered every semester that students can participate in for free.
