Northern Indigenous Counselling Program Graduation: Celebrating Our Second Cohort's Journey and Success

Northern Indigenous Counselling Cohort 2 Graduation

What an incredible celebration we had on July 5, 2025, for the Northern Indigenous Counselling Program Graduation as we honoured the second graduating cohort. It was a warm, emotional, and inspiring day for everyone involved. The event marked a meaningful milestone for our graduates and for our entire school community.

The Journey Through the Northern Indigenous Counselling Program

These students have shown deep dedication, strength, and resilience throughout their time in the program. It was moving to witness them step into their roles as wellness practitioners and leaders, ready to support others on their healing journeys.

The Northern Indigenous Counselling Program is a 21-month experiential learning journey that blends Indigenous worldviews with practical counselling and coaching skills. Students learn how to support physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual wellness in a way that honours their own traditions and lived experiences. The program includes land-based learning, ceremony, and personal reflection, helping students reconnect with their cultural roots while developing the tools to help others.

Honoring Culture, Healing, and Community

The Northern Indigenous Counselling Program was created in response to the urgent need for culturally relevant, community-based healing in northern and Indigenous communities. Rooted in Indigenous knowledge and values, the program provides students with the skills to offer trauma-informed support through both counselling and coaching techniques. Its land-based and experiential approach encourages deep personal growth while honoring traditional ways of knowing. This program is more than a path to a career; it is a transformative journey that empowers students to become leaders, healers, and advocates within their communities.

We are proud to collaborate with community organizations such as Dene Wellness Warriors, who play a vital role in promoting healing and empowerment in northern communities. Their commitment to culturally grounded wellness aligns closely with the values of this program.

Gratitude for Our Faculty and Staff

Thank you to our incredible staff and faculty, whose care and guidance have shaped this journey in so many powerful ways. Your support has made a lasting impact on our graduates and the communities they will serve.

Special thanks to Geoff Rodriguez for capturing the heart of the day through his photography. The moments he documented reflect the pride, joy, and strength that filled the space.

Congratulations!

To our newest graduates, we are so proud of you. As you move forward, know that you carry with you not just knowledge, but a deep commitment to community, healing, and cultural integrity.

Congratulations to the Northern Indigenous Counselling Class of 2025.
